Telluride and Mountain Village Real Estate Compared

The Towns of Telluride and Mountain Village are tightly integrated with ski slopes spanning from one town to the other and connected with multiple free transportation systems, which include the Telluride high speed gondola and the Galloping Goose bus transit system. Telluride ski slopes, biking and hiking trails are easily assessable from both towns.

Buyers who prefer a larger home with privacy, outdoor living space, a larger lot and Mountain Resort atmosphere, Mountain Village offers a larger selection of homes that fall into this category. Many Telluride homebuyers choose downtown Telluride for its historic mountain mining town charm and feel.  Historic Victorian era homes are the norm in the Town of Telluride offering at times a tighter living space size with an up and down narrow home in smaller lots.  There is the higher density nature of the neighborhoods in the downtown area, yet everything the Town of Telluride has to offer is within an easy walk.

The two communities are as one yet independent in their real estate offerings.  Many of the events occurring either in the Town of Telluride or Mountain Village share venues and if not are easily accessible from property in either location. The free Gondola picks up and drops off in the Mountain Village core and heart of downtown Telluride.  Both towns have ski-in /ski-out condos and single family homes from luxury new construction to less expense remodel opportunities.  The Town of Telluride has the "sunny side" or quiet side of town for those seeking less congestion and Mountain Village has its golf course area homes and town homes/condominiums which offer seclusion from the "hussle and bussle" of the Core area.  However, if being in the heart of it all is tour preference, the Core of Mountain Village is where to be or when in Telluride, Colorado Avenue (main street which goes west to east) and South of there is where much of the restaurant, retail, art galleries and night life are to be found.

World class food, shopping, and galleries are plentiful in both locales.      As is access to hundreds of miles of trails into the surrounding National Forest lands which engulf both towns for hiking, biking, 4X4 jeeping, fly-fishing and other outstanding outdoor adventures.  The Uncompahgre and San Juan National Forests also are host to some of Colorado's most breathtaking mountain peaks offering steep rugged peaks many over 14,000 feet in elevation which is your backdrop and view in both the Town of Telluride and Mountain Village real estate offerings.  The San Juan Mountain range is the largest range in the Colorado Rocky Mountains by area and these two towns also have the distinction of hosting the highest airport in the U.S., the Telluride Airport at an elevation of 9,070 feet.  Telluride and Mountain Village offer property owners both glamour and a laid back atmosphere that truly few places on earth can muster.
